The main Character in Robert Bloch's 1959 novel, Psycho
was based on the life of Ed Gein; a Wisconsin based serial
killer. It seems that the depraved acts and warped
psychology of Gein had stimulated the interest of more than
one writer. The heinous acts carried out by Gein had
inspired not only the 1974 film, DERANGED, but also the cult
classic,THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and the five time
Academy Award winning film, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.
